How to read the result
| Fill rate | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Under 60% | Generous access, and space you are paying for but not using | Check the size below before you sign |
| 60–85% | A practical fill with room for what you forgot | Take it |
| 85–100% | Fits physically, no tolerance for awkward shapes or late additions | Take it only for short, no-access storage |
| Over 100% | Does not fit at the selected packing density | Size up, or pack tighter and re-check |
Usable capacity by unit size
What the percentage is measured against. Usable volume is gross volume at moderate packing density, computed from the published size data rather than quoted from a brochure:
| Size | Floor area | Gross volume | Usable at 85% | Typically holds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5×5 | 25 sq ft | 200 cu ft | 170 cu ft | Part of one room |
| 5×10 | 50 sq ft | 400 cu ft | 340 cu ft | Studio apartment |
| 5×15 | 75 sq ft | 600 cu ft | 510 cu ft | 1 bedroom apartment |
| 10×10 | 100 sq ft | 800 cu ft | 680 cu ft | 1–2 bedroom apartment |
| 10×15 | 150 sq ft | 1,200 cu ft | 1,020 cu ft | 2 bedroom home |
| 10×20 | 200 sq ft | 1,600 cu ft | 1,360 cu ft | 3 bedroom house |
| 10×25 | 250 sq ft | 2,000 cu ft | 1,700 cu ft | 4 bedroom house |
| 10×30 | 300 sq ft | 2,400 cu ft | 2,040 cu ft | 4–5 bedroom house |
Item volumes on the other side of the comparison are the published packed values in the furniture dimension dataset.
Assumptions and limitations
The fit percentage uses the packing efficiency and aisle choice saved in your Storage Plan. It compares packed cubic feet with estimated usable capacity; it does not prove that a sofa will pass through the actual door, turn through a corridor or occupy the ideal shape. Advertised unit dimensions are nominal. Confirm interior and door measurements with the facility before renting.
